Biography
Reign of Fear began kicking ass, taking names, and writing brutal heavy metal in 2005. Dougy Reid
(Guitar, vocals) met Pete Hogan (Drummer) at Music College where they were both fulfilling their musical
dreams. They soon become aware of each others musical prowess and abilities and so began an interest
in all things METAL. Dougy was a member of a metal band whose drummer had left 6 days before a gig and
called upon Pete to help fill the void, which he did with absolute devastating precision and passion. He then
became a fully fledged member for 6 months.
They both soon became disillusioned with the musical direction and their relationship with other band
members had deteriorated beyond repair so they left to form a band based on old heavy metal values and
inspired by such bands as:- Metallica, Iron Maiden, Pantera, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Death, Megadeth,
Slayer, Wolf, Korn and many modern metal influences.
The next step was to recruit members to bolster the ranks so they auditioned bass players and
guitarist till they found two guys who could do what was needed. As a four piece the boys played many gigs
throughout the Midlands and beyond. During this time they penned and crafted the SCARS OF TIME EP
They headed to HELLFIRE STUDIOS in Birmingham with producer Ajeet Gill to record and master the
EP. While there they worked their asses off to produce the best record they could and capture the ferocious
live sound that the band had at that time. Once recording had been finished and mastered the boys headed
out to play a bunch of shows and spread the word and get Reign Of Fear firmly cemented into people`s
brains as the primary metal band in Birmingham.
6 months later change was afoot with their second guitarist being fired and then carrying on as a 3
piece for nearly 12 months. This united the boys further with the real roots coming through musically, more
musicianship on display and improved songwriting with more of a focus on groove and brutality as well as
melody being at the forefront of their new material. In the May of 2009 they also parted ways with a long
time friend and bass player due to irreconcilable personal differences. This left Dougy and Pete to continue
as they were before which was to write the new record, this came naturally as the boys were always the
main two song writers in Reign of Fear from day 1.
Throughout 2009 Reign Of Fear have continued to hone their skills and have written new songs for the
new CD As Babylon Burns. They will begin recording at the end of October with Ajeet Gill once again
taking the helm to make this the most evil and dominant 10 tracks you will hear this winter.
They began 2010 by getting long time brother and old band member and bass player Andy Morgan into
bolster the ranks and finally the boyz have there definitive line up cemented, With the release of as Babylon
burns the boys played key shows with the likes of cauldron and enforcer which they received acclaim for
there live shows. they have played the length of the UK in support of As Babylon Burns whilst working on
new material for the forthcoming record from ashes we rise which is set for a winter release. They head
into autumn with many shows played and many more to play with the key show being there festival debut at
the mighty Mammothfest in Brighton and hove on September 18th as always they will be there in full force
keeping it brutal.
